About the Event
Our Discovery Days are designed to give prospective parents and children an idea of what a typical day might look like if you join Wotton House. On 12th February we will be showcasing our Rewilding project which is based at our sister site, The Wilderness Centre; we will also be showcasing what we get up to in Science. Our prime aim is to combine a rigorous education with hands on fun! The Wilderness Centre plays a huge part in our school and our children go there every week throughout the year. The children engage in rewilding projects and work towards the John Muir Award johnmuirtrust.org. In Prep they enjoy spending time with our 4 school ponies based there. This year they are working with the ‘Friends of the Dartmoor Hill Pony' https://wildtowonderful.org/ to find out more about the unique characteristics of these very special ponies. One of the things they want to do is make hay nets to donate to the charity – full of very delicious Wilderness Centre hay. The Wilderness ponies are semi wild and firmly based at the Wilderness, however please come and meet another pony and have a go at making and stuffing your own hay net! If you prefer tree climbing to ponies, we will have our new tree climbing straps on hand so you can see how high you can get! And we will be launching our new air rifle shooting courses which all our students will be taking part in. In Science we will be going explosive! Our Head of Science will be giving you a taste of Middle Years Science. Please do book now as places are limited.
